Legal and contractual translations (French).

A legal or contractual document requires an exact, precise and accuralety phrased translation.

This generally starts with a good understanding of both legal systems in order to know where and how to research terminology and to spot any exact equivalence which may already exist.

And when there is no equivalence, a legal translator will have to use other strategies in order to convey the exact meaning of your contract, or legal text.

I am a qualified PSI (Public Service Interpreter) holding a DPSI Law and a Diploma in Translation. I'm not a lawyer, but I have gained a sufficient understanding of British and French law to know where to look for equivalences and how to handle differences.

More importantly, years of experience have taught me the importance of maintaining the integrity and the purpose of your legal document in French.

You can read more about legal translations on my blog, or simply contact me to discuss your needs.
